1970 Ford LTD
This is a car I got from my dad in a complicated three-way barter
agreement. My dad bartered for everything. This was also the nicest car I owned until I started acquiring cars
that were built in the ‘80s. The air conditioning even worked in this thing. It
needed nothing except for someone to get the golf ball out of the gas tank. I
never did, and I don’t think the guy I sold it to a few years later did either. This car was
big in every sense of the word. Big air came out of those vents, big wing vents, big seats, big trunk,
enormo hood, flip-up headlight doors (that still worked), big steering wheel and big tires. Big.
While I had it, I rebuilt the carb, replaced all 4 coil springs and shocks (I had that done, actually...), and did
various chunks of maintenance. The starter went on this car and I had to borrow one of Dad's cars to get to work.
While I was at work, he slipped down to the parts store and got a starter and then installed it. That was quite
nice of him considering it was 20 below zero that day. What a guy. I must have did the front brakes on this car
because I can remember being blown away that it had disks up front. I think I've done the brakes on every last car
I've ever owned. I'm cursed.
