1985 Mazda GLC

Yes, 1985. I'm quite sure. That's what I had to say to all the parts guys. Mazda changed the GLC's name to 323 sometime in 1985, but after this little car was made. This was my wife’s first and only car. She bought it for about 4 grand a long time ago. It needed a transmission rebuild to the tune of about a grand very soon after that. The rebuild lasted 10 years and the tranny was still tight when we got rid of it. The reason we got rid of it was because it leaked transmission fluid at the rate of about a quart a week. Nice runner, though.

This car treated her fairly well for the nearly 10 years she had it. She took several long road trips back East and it never gave her any problem on any of them. She, with the help of her and now our trusted mechanic (Cary Olson (651) 298-0956) over in St. Paul, Minnesota kept this car happy and healthy for as long as she and later we owned it. It even survived a spin-out on the freeway down in Iowa during a snow storm. The accident sent my wife to the emergency room with a bump on the head, but the car was fine.

We were preparing for vacation when this image was taken:

What a nice little car.
